Voiding a Sales Order that has a Purchase Order assigned to it

About half our orders have purchase orders attached to them when we order from the factory.  Occasionally the client decides to cancel the order after we've already placed the PO with the factory.  There are two ways that this can usually go:

1.  We cancel the PO with the factory and pay them a 20% re-stock fee

2.  We change the order to a stock PO and still bring it in-house.

How would you go about voiding the original sales order, and still receive the PO?
