Whats the simplest method of modifying Display Type?

On my transaction form:

Field A is a Check box
Field B is a Percent Field with Display Type of Normal


If Field A is NOT checked  than Field B is Display Type is Disabled
If Field A IS checked than Field B is available for input

In the past i would use a simple workflow but i feel my account has plenty of these. is there any other method available?
