Quantity On Hand NOT Exposed to Item Custom Field Formulas

The {quantityonhand} field is available to Item searches, but NOT to Item Custom field formulas.

I have a complicated formula that would be much better if I could store it as a custom Item field:
[LIST]
[*]Makes it easy to reuse in many different Saved Searches
[*]Can display it on the Item form[/LIST]Here's the formula: Formula to Display On-Hand Count with Units

Can you please expose the {quantityonhand} field to Item Custom field formulas?

In fact, it would be very helpful if the fields available to formulas were identical for both Saved Searches and Custom Fields.
