Invalid shipmethod reference key

We have an application that was working perfectly fine until this morning. This application creates item fulfillments from sales orders ... Today, every attempt to create an item fulfillment via web services results in an "(INVALID_KEY_OR_REF) Invalid shipmethod reference key ###". And this is happening for every shipment method.  We are using web services version 2009.1.

Anyone having similar issues?
