Restricted Tabs - Strange Login Behavior

Hello all,
I have a restricted tab on my site that is only available to some roles. When visiting this tab, you are greeted with Sign in fields. All good. If you input email/password, login works fine...you get access to the tab.

This is the strange part. If you enter in your information incorrectly, you get a message, "Incorrect email/password...blah blah blah." If you then re-enter the CORRECT information and try to sign in, sign in is successful, but it takes you to our CSS style sheet!!!!???

What could be causing this?
