Changing a custom field from Long Text to Text Area wipes out old data
Going through a client's NetSuite implementation where the previous admin created custom fields of type Long Text for many fields that contained very little data. Now trying to go through these and convert them to either Text or Text Area fields based on their real application but NetSuite does not let me and instead wipes out the previous data. This is wrong. It should truncate whatever data is in these fields and not wipe it out. Particularly when moving from a 100K long text type to a 4K text area.
Is this really by design? Or is this a bug?
