Information Items

We are using Information Items to display company news articles on our website.

I'd like to import about 1,000 items that I have in my News archive.  Looking through the CSV Import I don't immediately see an Import Type that will do this.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

(Also wondering if Information Items can have custom fields added?  And if Information Items can be updated through a Mass Update?)

Getting them imported and onto our website is my first priority.
