Report when items are commonly sold together

This may be too much for Saved Searches and standard reporting but I am going to throw it out there...

I need to generate a report to illustrate items that are commonly purchased with other items.  We are trying to determine if certain items are purchased along with other items so we can possibly make a kit offering to drive even more business.

Has anyone out there ever attempted such a challenge?
