Invalid Record Reference.

I am receiving an error message of (USER_ERROR: Invalid record reference) when attempting to add sales orders for certain customers.  I am still able to add OTHER record types, like notes or tasks, but cannot add a sales order.  Has anyone experienced a similar error?
