Drop ship PO / Order relationship

Would anyone know if it is possible to create a drop ship PO via web services?

We are converting data from our prior system. We have converted the order history. Now we would like to have the corresponding drop ship PO's

I am able to create open or closed PO's but am not able to link the PO to the original order. I may simply create a custom field to tie the PO's to the original order.

The business goal is to rapidly process warranty requests. (plus, I like knowing how stuff works)
