Import of Closed Sales Orders via Webservices

I have a requirement to import 20000 Closed Sales orders and  lines (normally one line per order) via Web Services.

I need these historical orders as the purchase history is key to our identification of future orders.

Can anyone explain if:-

a. importing closed sales orders is possible?
b. how to achieve this?
c. if not possible, any work arounds i.e. import as open orders and then force billing to set order to closed?


Any thoughts would be much appreciated
