easy Promotional URL question

Hi,

Just started creating more Promotional URLs and need some experience for creating the urls without the www.  So far;

http://www.gilkatho.com.au/parts works like expected to the directed Category.

http://gilkatho.com.au/parts takes the visitor to our main page.

When I try and create the Promotional URL for the latter address, the system always inserts the www.

Any ideas on what to do with this one?
