Multi Currency Transactions

We have enabled the multi currency transaction capability and set up a number of currencies against a customer. 

We have specified the primary currency against the financial information.

Through the UI we are able to use the multi currency capability nicely, and get transactions in GBP and EUR for our customer.

Through the WS interface, we can only use the primary currency set against the financial tab and get permission errors if we try and use one of the alternatives.

Has anyone else come across this and know of a way to achieve the required result?
