meta redirect -vs- duplicate categories
If you have a item category called "scarves" and you think it goes good as a subcategory of both "winter wear" and "women's accessories", you can achieve that in two ways.
Way #1...
You can have 1 "real category" full of scarves and then another empty category at the 2nd location. The empty category has a redirect in the meta tag that sends shoppers to the other "scarf category" that has the items in it.
Way #2...
You can have two identical categories with the same name and the same items in them.
Advantages of way#1
Much Less work to make or maintain as new scarves are added or removed. No duplicate items on site for web spiders to see the "duplicate content" and lower natural listing search ranking for that item. No duplicate items on site for web spiders to see duplicate content and lower natural listing search ranking for that item.
