Stripping HTML for Froogle?

Is there any trick that someone knows for stripping the html code for the Froogle/Base product feed? We embed html in our product descriptions. However, Google stipulates text only and, short of rekeying every product description in a custom item field, we want to quickly get product feeds uploaded to Base as well as other feeds.

Thanks for any suggestions on this.
