Hello from me to you

I want to achieve a situation whereby after a customer signs up via an online form they are automatically logged in to the website.

Currently it is a little frustrating for customers. They sign up via a form (for 3rd party tracking purposes) then the are taken to the website where they have to log in (seemingly for the second time) to purchase anything.

I'm sure it's probably scriptable, so if anyone has done this and would like to give me a copy I'll be your best friend.

Also, is there functionality for a "remember me on this computer"? Like when my iGoogle homepage loads with all my preferences and logged into my gmail account. That would rock more than Van Halen
