How to display a matrix item when only one child is active

We have about 200 matrix items that are all available in two options.  The manufacture is discontinuing one of the options.  So, all 200 items will be left with only one child item that isn't deactivated.

This makes our site confusing as we will be left with a bunch of items which have a matrix option pull-down menu (on the web store) even though only one option is available for those items.

When Matrix Items in the web store have only one child item that is active, we want NetSuite to no longer display a drop down menu for those items. Instead, we want NS to display "static text". So, in the case of an item that is only available in one size .... the customer would see "SIZE = large" rather than a pull down with only one size option available.
