Latest news on front page

I am looking to have an automated news feed on the front page of our website. The ideal situation would be to have some code that pulls the top 5 news stories (information items) within the front page of our website.
This should be dynamic (I am quite supprised that netsuite doesn't have such a feature. )
Does anybody know if it is possible to create something like "latest news"
