Item option droplists missing

Has anyone come across an issue where the drop down list for matrix item options is missing? I had a customer today who said that the options were missing so they couldnt order. I thought it could be javascript not active, so i disabled my own and went in and they were still there, just couldnt ordered because when javascript is disabled none of the add to cart pages work. If so, how did you manage to fix it? Thanks.
