Kits and shipping boxes - broken/or as designed?
Two NetSuite inventory items are setup like this...
Item a = Table base
weight = 50 lbs
Package = "table base box"
Item b = Table Top
weight = 30 lbs
Package = "table top box"
The Kit is called "table" and has two members (Item A and B above). The kit is set to shipping package = "null".
One would think that the above kit would use the two packages set for it's members when calculate shipping. It doesn't. Unfortunately it just uses their combined weight and NO package considerations are used. Bummer!
I know this because I added the above kit to a sales order and got roughly $30 in shipping. I then removed the kit and added both members to the sales order and got roughly $40 in shipping.
