Require log in to display pricing just for certain brands

We sell many brands of products in our web store and I want to require customer log in for some of them - not all. I am wondering if there is a way to do this keying off of the parent item or the category. In other words, write some code that ideally says "require log in for any items with this parent" - or as a next-best option, "require log in for any items in this category or any of it's subcategories."

Does anyone know how to achieve this?
