Assembly? Matrix?

Hi All,

We have a product we sell.  The product comes in parts from different suppliers, it is available in different colors.

Currently we sell this product online as a Matrix item so the customer can select a color.  However, the problem with this method that the parts to make up this item are not tracked.  We have no way to know when it is time to order specific parts unless we visually check the different parts.

My question.  Is there a way to sell this product online, and have the ability for the customer to select color option, but still track the parts of the item.
