Advanced Promotions coupon codes

I'm using Advanced Promotions and when I create promotions that are buy/get or item-based I get the following error message when I try to use the coupon codes in the website.

This coupon does not apply to this site.
Please correct or remove the coupon code.

I don't have a problem when I use the coupon code in NS.

Could this be related to permission?
