B to B site. Only allow add to cart if user is logged in registered user

I am trying to help a friend who is trying to launch their web site.  The person who developed it didn't understand that the product catalog items should only have the add to cart button available if the users is registered and logged in.  Is there a simple setting to do this or is scripting required?  (hoping it is easy...)
