I am trying to create a sales order transaction report that shows a series of "parent" items across the top (columns).  I am able to run a custom matrix report showing all individual items in individual columns but I don't want each individual item - only a subtotal of the parent items.  I have tried every way I can think of and haven't been able to do this.  I was able to do this if I put the parent items as the rows instead of the columns but that is not how I need the report to work.

Basically, I want to show (by customer), how many items (grouped by parent)they have purchased over a specified period of time.  Can anyone help me with this?  I sure would appreciate it!!
