Simple Two Column Report

I need a report of our inventory items and the vendor we purchase each item from.  The "preferred vendor" field has never been used by our purchasing department so I can't search on that.  No matter what inventory or purchasing report I start with, I can't find an option to select a vendor name for that report or if I have the vendor name, I can't get the item number (not item description) on the same report.  It's so simple I know I'm just overlooking the obvious. 

Help?
