Assembly Build/Inventory Item Problem

I want to utilize the Assembly Build feature such that I am only reminded which assemblies to build when they are listed on a Sales Order.  I do not want Inventory of those particular assembly-build items since they will tie up resources just sitting on our shelf.

Currently, you have to set an inventory level for assembly-build items if you want to be reminded which ones to build when a Sales Order with that assembly-build item is generated.  If you do NOT set an inventory level on an assembly-build item then, you will NOT be reminded to build an assembly item for a Sales Order with that assembly item.
