Closing - P.O.

These are very elementary questions that I can NOT locate in NS Help.

1.  Can anyone explain to me what the difference between "Close Remaining" and Close line Items on P.O.'s are?  2.  Are we supposed to use these to receive a P.O.? - We are NOT using Advanced Receiving.  

I have now received two completely different explanations from NS Support and I just want to know how NetSuite uses these areas before I do our training.
