Global Search for UPC Code

I discovered today that Global Search does not include the new UPC Code field that was added in ver 2007.  Is there some hidden switch to make this happen?  Or are the two just not tied together?

Is there any other way to scan a UPC barcode in NetSuite to search for the item and bring it up on my screen?
