Item ID on Purchase Orders

Hey all,
I am trying to figure out a way to display our items internal id on the purchase order.
This will allow the vendor to input the item's id into the shipping reference field when they ship the product on our behalf using our shipping account number.  If we can properly identify the item, we can import the tracking number.  I can make the item's Name/Code display, but I wanted the internal ID because that is always a unique number.
