How to convert inventory item to serialized inventory item

This was in another thread [https://usergroup.netsuite.com/users/showthread.php?t=5533] but thought I should open a new one specific to my issue.


I just performed some imports of inventory items for a client. A handful (small amount, maybe 5 or 10) were realized after the fact to be items with serial numbers. Oops, they got imported as normal Inventory Items.
The quantities of these items varies from a few to many but they have no transactions against them at the moment. I was hoping there was a way to convert these to a different type but reading this thread, got very discouraged. Hoping newer versions of NetSuite have some course you can take but the help pages don't show anything I can find.
