Barcode POS Basic Suitescript

Hi. Has anyone coded a basic barcode POS system that combines the qty when you scan each item individually. So if you have three of the same item you just scan them individually for speed but the system combines the qty. Right now the standard form creates a line item for each. The idea is speed and I would be happy with a script that just did the entry showing the customer's price (we have different price levels) and then totaled the qty when it was converted to a sales order.

Does anyone else have this basic requirement as well so if I go to my programmer he can create something we all can share.
