Mass Update Transaction Line Items

Does anyone have a solution for updating transaction line items?  Particularly Purchase Order line items?  I just created 2 new column fields on Purchase Orders and they show the "Item Type" and the "Project/Job" (entitynumber).  Right now on every transaction they are blank, but I'd like to populate them so that will print out the next time someone prints them.

I thought I could do this with a simple mass update, but line level is not available on a mass update...

help.
