Memorize Orders for annual renewals?

We have a software subscription product that is billed annually that we would like to set to auto-bill (either invoice or cash sales- whatever the original sales order was).  Although we have advanced billing, we dont know how long their will renew for so I dont think we can use that becuase the sales order would need to know the lifespan.  I know NetSuite has a module for subscription renewals but its very expensive.

Is memorized transaction my  best option? Can I script it to create the memorized transaction b/c I am looking at 40K+ orders a year and I'd rather not have to touch each one.
