Importing Matrix Options?

I have searched the threads and cannot find a definitive answer on the ability to import Matrix Options. 

I know I can import to a custom record but I have not found a way to use custom records as Matrix Options. 

Is anyone out there aware of an easy way to import custom lists used as Matrix Options?

At present I have a just under a 1,000 unique options to use/import. 

Any and all help is appreciated.  I really don't want to copy and past if possible.
