Looking for Startdate - End Date

Hello

I am trying to do a simple search

I am looking for events of a particular type (easy)

and I want to count up the number of days for each event.

the events have been put in as recurring events.

So for an event that occurs every day for 5 days I want to get the number 5

For an event that occurs once a week for 5 weeks I want to get the number 5

Is this possible?  I am thinking not.
