Accessing stored custom fields in Before Load function

Hi,

Is it possible to access stored custom fields in Before Load function?

I am trying to create a Custom Button on Form in View and Edit Mode based on the custom form selected.
Is this doable?

I am always getting null for nlapiGetFieldValue("customform") and nlapiGetFieldValue("internalid");

Any help is appreciated.
