Auto Generate a server side file

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to create a video site map (not a "normal" site map) and ping google when it's created on the server. do the following, but not sure if it's possible. I need to create a script that will run on a daily basis and will do the following:
[LIST]
[*]run a saved search to retrieve video information
[*]create a new file (video_map.xml), from the results of the saved search
[*]place this file in the "live hosting -> site" directory.
[*]ping google with the following command - http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=http://www.example.com/sitemap-file.xml
