Viewing Records (update dynamically)

I have a client script attached to a custom record, so that when you edit it, it will run a saved search and update one of the fields. 

I'm hoping I can use a user event script to dynamically update the field upon view.  I'm not sure how to do this, as the sample documentation seems to focus on creating/editing triggers versus view.

Alternatively, perhaps I could put a button on the page that could invoke the client script to refresh the data?
