Need Documentation & Sample Code for Executing Saved Searches from Script

I found the one brief article  and very simple sample code, but I need much more details about executing Saved Searches from Script.

The one article: Executing Existing Saved Searches
My questions:

[LIST=1]
[*]Must I always define in Script the filters and columns, or can I get those from the Saved Search (SS)?  If so, how?
[*]Can I get the columns along with the custom name that I have defined in the SS?
[*]Can I get the value for a specific column already defined on the SS?
[*]Can I get the value for Formula columns defined on the SS?
