Suitelet failing because of User Event script

I have created a suitelet that updates a support case. One of the parameters I am passing in is the case status. However this fails on some occasions (asking for an id) because I have a User Event script for my support cases. The user event script is performing a record load and lots of other stuff which is what is probably causing the problem - How can I bypass the user event script when running my suitelet?
