Internal ID of Template from Document Field

Hi All,

I have a custom record with a document field which is populated with a template document, I need to get the internal ID of the template in order to use with a nlapiMergeRecord.

The ID being returned when I do a GetFieldValue is not the internal ID of the template, it instead returns the internal ID of the File.

Can anyone advise how I can capture the internal ID of a template please into a field or am I looking at manually populating the number of the template ID in a integer field?
