user event beforeload issue. (post sourcing?)

I'm fairly new to writing suitescript and ran into  something I can't figure out.

I have a simple user event script that disables a sublist on a certain custom form beforeload.

the script executes without an issue except I noticed that I am unable to switch between tabs on the form unless I update one of the mandatory fields in the form header.

I assume that this is a known occurrence but is there a line of code I can use to fix this or allow the page to finish loading? I thought this might be a postsourcing issue.
