Defect when looking up Gift Certificate data

Starting today, we're seeing that there's a defect when searching for attributes of a Gift Certificate - we use this to check that there's enough remaining balance via our external website.

Until today, the response would include <record internalid="XXXX" type="giftcertificate"> and the ID would match the ID of the Gift Certificate record.

However, starting today, the internalID returned isn't the same as that of the InternalID of the Gift Certificate - oddly each time the number seems to be 106 numbers higher!

Anyone seeing anything similar?
