Script (disable/hide button)

i can disable/hide button using 'beforeLoad' event type.
but i cannot get it to work using client side script.
i am not able to defined the variable to use 'form.getButton'

Is this possible to do for client side scripting? or does it only work on a 'beforeLoad' event type?
