Add user note to record-in-progress

Hi, everyone,

I am working on a change to Purchase Orders that requires that I programmatically add User Notes to the order based on actions that occur while the order is in being made.  The Notes would likely be created before the PO has ever been saved.  How do I add user notes to a PO that doesn't have an internal ID yet? 

I'm really hoping the answer isn't "queue them up and add them after the PO has been saved."
