Speed and optimizing my site

ok looking at some of the guidance from google webmaster blog i thought i would start looking at the speed of my site as this is becoming a major factor for google rankings now that caffiene has been implemented.

The big thing that i've noticed is that i only get 77/100 when using Firebug and the page speed analyser in firefox.

some of the major issues (that i have no control over) are:

Leverage browser caching
The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime. Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources:
(this is most of the files that are linked from netsuite) the advice says to make a simple code change in apache and bingo all sorted. I am presuming this will be an enhancement request that takes years in Netsuite.
