Server side scripting not working on custom records

I have server side scripting as User Event on a custom record. 'BeforeSubmit' and 'AfterSubmit' fire as expected. 'BeforeLoad' however does not get executed.

Equally, on client side, 'PageInit' fires as expected however 'SaveRecord' does not fire.

Anyone aware of problems with scripting on custom records?
