Source from Opportunity, Quote, or Customer

I have a custom record that I'd like to be able to source from an opportunity, quote, or customer.  I created a custom field for each list/record and made it the parent.  I can choose the custom record from a quote or customer and then the quote and/or customer information is automatically included in the new record.  I can't seem to do this for opportunity.  Also, if opportunity is manually selected, I want the Customer to be sourced from either the quote or opportunity (which ever one is selected).  Assume I'll have to script this, since I can only source
