Need a little explanation/confirmation on Text area custom field

I have been trying to find documentation in order to confirm what I want to do is even possible, with no luck.  If anyone can assist with helping me understand this clearly, I would appreciate it immensly.

Custom transaction column field type = text area

Store Value is checked

Applies to
Sale Item

Item Fulfillment

Prints on Pick Ticket, Pack Slip, and Return Form.

appears on sales orders, invoices, cash sales.

Field is populated at fullfillment stage.


The data is clearly visible on the fullfillment, works well there, but it doesn't carry through to the invoice, and my efforts to get it to appear on the SO are getting me nowhere.
